1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ChessNB's website (chessnb.in) and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. For students under 18, parental/guardian consent is required.
2. Services Offered
ChessNB provides online chess coaching services including:
- Group Batches: 3 levels (Foundation, Beginner, Intermediate) with 4-6 students per batch, 8 classes/month, 60 minutes each
- 1:1 Personal Coaching: Personalized sessions with flexible scheduling
- Homework & Tests: Weekly assignments via Lichess.org platform
- Progress Tracking: Monthly reports on Elo rating improvement and skill development
- WhatsApp Support: Group or direct chat support for doubts and announcements
3. Enrollment & Payment
3.1 Enrollment Process:
- Book a free consultation via contact form or email
- Coach assesses student level and recommends appropriate program
- Payment confirmation confirms seat reservation
3.2 Pricing:
- Group Batches: ₹3,200 - ₹4,500 per month (varies by level)
- 1:1 Coaching: Starting at ₹700/hour (custom pricing based on frequency)
- Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and subject to change with 30 days notice
3.3 Payment Terms:
- Monthly billing for group batches (advance payment required)
- Payment via Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking accepted)
- Invoices sent via email within 24 hours of payment
- Late payment (`>`7 days) may result in suspension of access
4. Refund Policy
Satisfaction Guarantee: Full refund if you are not satisfied within the first 2 sessions (group or 1:1), no questions asked.
Request refund within 7 days of 2nd session. Refund processed within 5-7 business days.
After 2 sessions: No refunds for remaining classes in the month. You may cancel before the next billing cycle with 7 days notice. See full Refund Policy.
5. Class Scheduling & Attendance
5.1 Group Batches:
- Fixed schedule announced at batch start (typically 2 classes/week)
- Zoom links shared 24 hours before each class
- Missed classes: Materials/recordings shared in WhatsApp group, but no makeup classes
- Batch rescheduling (by coach): Students notified 48 hours in advance
5.2 1:1 Coaching:
- Flexible scheduling based on mutual availability
- Cancellation by student: Minimum 24-hour notice required, or session is forfeited
- Cancellation by coach: Makeup session scheduled within same week
5.3 Technical Requirements:
- Stable internet connection (minimum 2 Mbps)
- Computer/laptop/tablet with Zoom installed
- Free Lichess.org account (for homework and practice)
- Technical issues on student's end: No makeup classes/refunds
6. Student Responsibilities
Students (and parents/guardians) agree to:
- Attend classes on time and participate actively
- Complete weekly homework assignments on Lichess
- Maintain respectful behavior during classes and in WhatsApp groups
- Not record, share, or distribute class materials without written permission
- Provide accurate information during enrollment (age, level, contact details)
- Notify coach of any learning difficulties or special requirements
7. Intellectual Property
All course materials, including but not limited to lesson plans, homework assignments, Lichess studies, PDFs, and video recordings, are the intellectual property of ChessNB and are provided for personal educational use only.
Prohibited actions: Copying, distributing, reselling, or publicly sharing materials without written consent. Violation may result in immediate termination of services without refund.
8. Code of Conduct
We maintain a safe, respectful learning environment. The following behaviors will result in immediate removal without refund:
- Harassment, bullying, or abusive language toward coach or other students
- Cheating during tests or using chess engines during practice games
- Disruptive behavior during classes (e.g., spamming, inappropriate content)
- Sharing Zoom links or class recordings publicly
9. Disclaimers & Limitations
9.1 No Guaranteed Results: While we strive for student improvement, we cannot guarantee specific Elo rating gains or tournament results. Progress depends on student effort, practice, and natural aptitude.
9.2 Service Availability: Classes are conducted online via Zoom. We are not liable for service interruptions caused by third-party platforms (Zoom downtime, Lichess maintenance) or technical issues beyond our control.
9.3 Health & Wellness: Prolonged screen time may cause eye strain or fatigue. We recommend students take breaks and follow ergonomic practices. ChessNB is not liable for health issues arising from screen usage.
9.4 External Links: Our website may link to third-party platforms (e.g., Lichess.org). We are not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or terms.
10. Termination
By Student: Cancel anytime with 7 days notice before next billing cycle. No partial refunds for current month (except within first 2 sessions - see Refund Policy).
By ChessNB: We reserve the right to terminate services immediately if:
- Payment is overdue by more than 14 days
- Code of Conduct is violated
- False information was provided during enrollment
11. Privacy & Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
12. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be resolved through:
- Informal Resolution: Contact us at chessnb.online@gmail.com to resolve amicably
- Mediation: If unresolved, mediation in Hyderabad, Telangana
- Arbitration/Court: As a last resort, jurisdiction lies with courts in Hyderabad, India
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. For significant changes (e.g., pricing), we will notify students via email 30 days in advance.
